Science House
Who We Are
The Science House annually reaches over 3,000 teachers and over 20,000 students from six offices spread across the state. Its mission is to increase student enthusiasm for science by partnering with K-12 teachers to promote hands-on inquiry-based science learning. Our student science enrichment activities, teacher training programs, and curriculum-related programs link the research university to the needs of K-12 science and mathematics education. Science House hands-on learning activities include Science on the Road school demonstrations, laboratory technology workshops for teachers, long-term loans of laboratory equipment, summer student research programs, and development of learning materials.

Science House programs are guided by the best research and practices in science and mathematics education. We enlist faculty and students at North Carolina's science, math, and technology university to train teachers and to help students visualize careers in these disciplines. In particular we have led the K-12 outreach projects for two multi-university science research centers that are at the cutting edge of their disciplines. We are experienced in bringing relevant science to the classroom.

The Science House website distributes information on our programs as well as learning materials to support the NC science curriculum. The Science House site is a well-known resource in science education in NC, receiving over 50,000 visitors per month.
